Madison, Wis. – A devastating crash on Madison’s southwest side has left one person dead and three others injured, including two children. Authorities confirmed that a 20-year-old man was arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI) after colliding with another vehicle at high speed.
The fatal incident occurred on Thursday around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of S. Gammon Road and Raymond Road. According to the Madison Police Department (MPD), the suspect, driving a black SUV, showed clear signs of impairment at the scene and was taken into custody.
Emergency responders rushed to the site, where they found the wreckage of the crash. Tragically, the driver of the second vehicle, a 67-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two young passengers in her car were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another individual involved in the crash also sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
Authorities stated that speed played a significant role in the collision, emphasizing the reckless nature of the driver’s actions. The suspect now faces multiple charges, including homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, causing injury by OWI, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
