Dobeir Quam Rudolph, a Suffolk resident, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after being convicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to court documents, law enforcement intercepted a package on Sept. 15, 2023, containing two pounds of crystal meth that was shipped from Murrieta, California, to Norfolk via the U.S. Postal Service. Authorities conducted a controlled delivery, which led to Rudolph arriving at the intended address and retrieving the package.

When law enforcement attempted to arrest him, Rudolph resisted and tried to flee, reaching for something in his vehicle. Officers found a handgun in the vehicle, which Rudolph was attempting to destroy. Rudolph has prior felony convictions, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin M. Comstock and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc W. West, with support from law enforcement agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the DEA, and the Norfolk Police Department.
