A 19-year-old teen had a terrifying moment on a Queens subway ride Thursday evening during rush hour. The trouble started when another passenger bumped into him on the northbound J train near the 75th Street–Elderts Lane station in Woodhaven just before 6 p.m.
What began as an accidental nudge quickly escalated. Words were exchanged, and before anyone could intervene, the stranger pulled out a knife and slashed the teen on his arm. It was a shocking and unexpected outburst of violence in the middle of a busy commute.
After the attack, the suspect didn’t stick around. He quickly got off the train and disappeared into the streets. Meanwhile, the injured teen was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he’s now in stable condition and on the mend.
Police are still searching for the suspect, who was last seen wearing blue jeans, a yellow jacket, black sneakers, a gray beanie hat, and carrying a green backpack. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help catch the attacker.
This incident serves as a stark reminder to stay alert during commutes, especially during busy hours when subway cars are packed. Thankfully, the teen is expected to recover fully.
