On Friday afternoon, a shooting at the Park Plaza Mall in Little Rock, Arkansas, left two people injured, according to police. Thankfully, their injuries aren’t life-threatening, and both are expected to recover fully.
The incident happened just before 1:45 p.m. and was described as an argument between two individuals. One of them had a gun, and things escalated quickly. While the Little Rock Police initially said three people were hurt, they later confirmed it was only two. No one has been arrested yet, but police are treating it as an isolated incident.
What Happened?
Mark Edwards, a spokesperson for the Little Rock Police Department, explained, “Two guys got into a disagreement, and one of them was armed.” Although the situation was intense, it didn’t spread beyond the two individuals involved. Police Chief Heath Helton praised officers for acting quickly to secure the area and keep the public safe.
“We’re relieved the victims are going to be okay,” Helton said in a statement. “We’ll do everything we can to make sure those responsible are held accountable.”
Mayor Speaks Out Against Gun Violence
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. shared his thoughts on the incident in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter). He called the shooting “careless, senseless, and criminal,” emphasizing that gun violence is never acceptable.
“The actions of these two individuals put everyone at risk,” the mayor said. He also thanked police, first responders, mall security, and employees for their quick response in keeping everyone safe.
What’s Next?
The Little Rock Police Department is continuing its investigation and plans to share more details as they become available. For now, no news conference has been scheduled.
This is a developing story, but for now, the good news is that both victims are expected to recover fully.
