Two young kids in Kyle, Texas, had a scary encounter on their way home from school when two men approached them and asked if they wanted to be kidnapped.
It happened on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 29, around 3:20 p.m. The children, a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old, were walking home from Negley Elementary when two men started following them. The strangers then walked up to the kids and made the disturbing comment.
Frightened, the children rushed home and told their parents, who immediately reported the incident to the Kyle Police Department. Officers arrived at the scene and questioned the suspects. The men, identified as 19-year-old Kaine Villarreal and 18-year-old Lane Burch, both from Kyle, told the police that it was all just a “TikTok prank.”
However, the authorities didn’t take the situation lightly. Villarreal and Burch were arrested and charged with terroristic threat. Officials at Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Hays CISD) were also informed about what happened.
This shocking incident has left many in the community concerned about the dangers of social media stunts that cross the line. The police are reminding everyone that what may seem like a prank can have serious consequences, especially when it involves the safety of children.
