A thief in the Bronx stole a shopping cart from an elderly woman that contained $40,000 in cashier’s checks, as well as her iPhone and several debit and credit cards. The crime happened on Wednesday around noon in the Fordham Heights neighborhood. The 85-year-old woman, who had just left the bank and was running errands, was walking near the intersection of Marion Avenue and East 195th Street when a stranger grabbed her cart.

The thief quickly fled the scene, running east along East 195th Street with the cart and its valuable contents. The elderly woman was not injured in the robbery, but she lost a significant amount of money and personal items. Police are still searching for the thief, who was last seen walking on the sidewalk with the hood of his black sweatshirt pulled up over his head.

The crime took place in broad daylight, which made it even more shocking for the community. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and help catch the criminal.
