MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Three men were arrested and charged after they led Memphis police on a chase following a car theft on March 5, 2025. The suspects, identified as Charterio Porter, Paterrio Hopson, and J’Marion Moore, were apprehended after abandoning a stolen vehicle.
Around 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a call about a stolen car at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Winchester Road. Hours later, at approximately 4:00 p.m., police spotted a suspicious vehicle matching the description of the stolen car. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, all three suspects fled on foot but were quickly taken into custody.
During the investigation, police discovered a loaded gun and marijuana on Porter. In addition, they found car keys for a Nissan and a Toyota on Hopson, who was also carrying a modified rifle. The rifle had been altered to become a fully automatic weapon. Hopson, a convicted felon, was not legally allowed to possess firearms.
The three suspects are facing multiple charges, including theft of property, aggravated assault, auto burglary, evading arrest, and illegal possession of weapons. The Memphis Police Department continues to investigate the case as the suspects await further legal proceedings.
