A Colorado woman has been arrested after her 76-year-old mother, LaVonne Hoff, was fatally attacked by dogs in her home.

Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a distress call on February 3 and found Hoff unresponsive, with several dogs roaming the residence. Autopsy results confirmed that she died from injuries sustained in the attack. Authorities noted that Hoff had dementia and required constant care.

During the investigation, deputies discovered that her daughter, 47-year-old Jessica Hoff, had left her mother home alone while running errands. Further inquiries revealed that she owned 54 dogs and seven birds, all kept in unsanitary conditions at a second property in Colorado City, nearly 27 miles away.

Jessica Hoff has been charged with criminal negligence resulting in death, along with 54 counts of aggravated animal cruelty. The seized animals are now under the care of Pueblo County Deputies and Animal Law Enforcement.

This heartbreaking case highlights the dangers of neglect and irresponsible pet ownership. Authorities urge anyone aware of similar situations to report them immediately to prevent future tragedies.
