Share news:

Phoenix, AZ – A shocking development has emerged in a tragic hit-and-run case that claimed the life of a pedestrian in Phoenix last month. Authorities have arrested 19-year-old Deena Jean Marie Kneece in connection with the fatal collision, police confirmed Tuesday.

Kneece was booked into jail on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The case stems from a February 27 incident at 35th and Peoria Avenues, where 36-year-old Aaron Hornedo was fatally struck while crossing the street.

Police say the heartbreaking accident occurred just after 6 a.m. as Hornedo walked through a marked crosswalk. He was hit by two vehicles, both of which fled the scene without stopping to render aid. Emergency responders rushed Hornedo to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators worked tirelessly to track down the drivers involved, eventually identifying Kneece as one of the suspects. During questioning, she allegedly admitted to being involved in a collision in the area, though further details have not been disclosed.
