An 80-year-old man from Longview had to be airlifted to a hospital in Portland after a single-car accident on Wednesday in Wahkiakum County.

The crash happened around 11:30 in the morning along Ocean Beach Highway, also known as State Route 4, near milepost 8. This area is close to the county line between Pacific and Wahkiakum counties.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the man, identified as Andrew R. Roby, was driving east when his car crossed the centerline. The vehicle rolled over onto the westbound shoulder, coming to a stop.

Officials said the crash was caused by speeding. Fortunately, Roby was wearing a seatbelt, which likely helped prevent more severe injuries. However, authorities mentioned he might face charges related to the incident.

After the accident, Roby was flown by Life Flight to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland, where he received medical care.

This serves as a reminder to always drive safely and be mindful of speed, especially on highways like Ocean Beach, where conditions can change quickly.
