Fort Lauderdale, Florida – A man has been arrested in connection to a violent attack on an Amazon delivery driver last week. The incident, which shocked the Fort Lauderdale community, unfolded in a quiet neighborhood and left the driver seriously injured.

Curtis Gardner, a 33-year-old resident of Fort Lauderdale, was taken into custody by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Fugitive Unit on Monday morning after detectives secured an arrest warrant. On Tuesday, he appeared before a judge in Broward County Circuit Court, facing serious charges, including felony attempted murder, armed carjacking, and burglary with battery.

The judge, after reviewing the case, ruled that Gardner would be held without bond. “I do find probable cause on all counts,” the judge stated.

The terrifying events took place on the night of December 7 along Northwest 10th Terrace. According to investigators, the Amazon driver had pulled over due to a flat tire when Gardner allegedly approached him. Police said Gardner pulled out a knife and stabbed the driver in the abdomen. The suspect then reportedly robbed the driver, making off with Amazon packages from the vehicle.

Surveillance footage from a nearby home, owned by Katoria Brickley, captured the injured driver clutching his stomach and knocking on her door for help. Brickley recalled the moment with concern. “He came to the porch and everything. He was bleeding; he knocked on the door, and then he ran off,” she said.

The wounded driver didn’t stop there. He managed to walk to the Fiesta Food Market, located just minutes away from where the attack occurred, still holding his stomach. Mohammed Ullah, an employee at the store, described the shocking moment when the driver came in looking for help. “I just said, ‘Take off your hand,’ and blood was everywhere,” Ullah recounted. “He was bleeding all over his body. It’s something I’ll never forget.”

The floor of the food market was left stained with blood, and surveillance video captured Fort Lauderdale Police officers and emergency responders arriving to assist the victim. In the video, first responders can be seen helping the driver, offering him water, and treating his wounds before rushing him out on a stretcher.

Thankfully, the driver, though seriously injured, is expected to recover. An Amazon spokesperson expressed gratitude for his progress and extended their well wishes.

Police have described the attack as a random act of violence, with no signs that the flat tire was part of a planned setup. Authorities are continuing to investigate and have urged anyone with more information about the case to come forward.
