In Houston, a man was shot in the leg while trying to stop a group of robbery suspects early Friday morning, according to the police.
The chaotic scene unfolded around 2:15 a.m. at an apartment complex on Spenwick Drive. A woman told officers she had just pulled into the complex when a group of armed men approached her, attempting to steal her vehicle. Things escalated quickly, and both the woman and the suspects reportedly exchanged gunfire.
As the suspects tried to make their escape, they found themselves trapped by the apartment complex gate. That’s when a brave man stepped in, attempting to stop them. Unfortunately, the suspects fired at him, hitting him in the leg.
The injured man was rushed to the hospital, where he was last reported to be in stable condition. Police say the suspects, unable to get their vehicle past the gate, climbed over the fence and ran off on foot. So far, no descriptions of the suspects have been released.
The robbery and shooting are still under investigation, and authorities are working to piece together what happened.
