A 48-year-old woman has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly starting a fire outside a boxing gym in Eagle Rock.

The incident happened on Sunday morning in front of the Lako Boxing Club, located on the 4400 block of Eagle Rock Boulevard. Security cameras at the gym caught the suspect, identified as Marvella Salomon, setting the fire. According to Yuichi Ohi, the gym’s owner, the footage shows Salomon dragging a mattress over to a fitness tire used for workouts, piling more items on top, and then setting everything ablaze before quickly walking away.

Officers from the LAPD Northeast Division, who are familiar with the neighborhood, recognized Salomon from a wanted flyer circulated by detectives. She was arrested on December 19 and is now facing charges of arson of a structure and arson of personal property. Her bail has been set at $125,000.

The gym owner expressed his concern over the event, as the fire could have caused serious damage or injuries. Thankfully, it was caught early.
