A man was shot early Thursday morning outside the Advenir at San Tropez apartment complex in Pembroke Pines, police said.

It all happened around 6:30 a.m. The victim was standing outside the complex at 251 NW 78th Terrace when another man with a gun approached him. According to Amanda Conwell, a spokesperson for the Pembroke Pines Police, things quickly turned violent.

The two men got into a fight, and during the struggle, the armed man shot the victim in the torso. After the attack, the shooter grabbed the victim’s belongings and took off. Police think he may have escaped in a car, but they’re still investigating.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, and thankfully, doctors expect him to recover. Investigators believe this wasn’t random—the victim may have been specifically targeted.

Police are now on the lookout for the suspect and are asking anyone with information to come forward. If you know anything, don’t hesitate to contact the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
