In Warsaw, Kentucky, a man from Louisville found himself in big trouble just before Christmas. On December 23, deputies with the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office pulled over 49-year-old Sean Farr on KY Route 1039 for a traffic violation. What seemed like a routine stop quickly turned into something much more surprising.
As the deputy looked further into things, he stumbled upon a shocking discovery—over 300 stolen gift cards sitting in Farr’s car. But that wasn’t all. There was also a ledger filled with serial numbers from even more gift cards. When questioned, Farr admitted to stealing both the gift cards and their serial numbers. Deputies believe he took them from returned items on store shelves, mostly in the Florence and Newport areas.
It didn’t end there. Farr was arrested on the spot and taken to the Carroll County Detention Center. Along with facing charges related to the stolen gift cards, he’s also dealing with a list of other legal troubles. These include having a fugitive warrant from another state, driving with a suspended or revoked license, failing to update his address with the Department of Transportation, and even making an improper turn.
Right now, the investigation is still ongoing, and the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office is digging deeper to figure out just how far Farr’s scheme went. It’s a reminder that even a simple traffic stop can lead to uncovering much bigger crimes.
