Two people have been arrested following a violent attack on a 63-year-old man in Norwood Park over the weekend.

Authorities have not yet filed charges against the two individuals, but they are being considered “persons of interest” in the death of George N. Levin. Levin’s body was discovered by his sister inside their home on the 7600 block of West Talcott Avenue, according to police.

Levin’s 65-year-old sister last saw him around 7 p.m. on Sunday when they had dinner together at their home on the Northwest Side. After the meal, Levin went downstairs to his living area.

About an hour and a half later, around 8:30 p.m., she heard a loud noise coming from his apartment. Concerned, she went to check on him and noticed the back door was open. She saw an unfamiliar person and asked, “Is my brother OK?”

The person replied, “Yes, I am with your brother. I will have him call you.”

Later, Levin’s sister discovered him in a horrifying state—partially undressed, bruised, and tied up. His hands were bound with duct tape, his ankles tied with a black power cord, and a sock had been stuffed into his mouth, secured by more duct tape.

She also noticed that his cellphone, car keys, and wallet were missing.

Police from Area 5 are actively investigating the case.
