A dramatic police chase in El Monte, California, ended in a deadly shooting after a man reportedly pulled out a gun at a Target store on Peck Road.

It all started when police got a call about someone causing a disturbance and flashing a gun inside the Target located in the 3600 block of Peck Road. Officers from the El Monte Police Department rushed to the scene, but by then, the suspect had already taken off.

What followed was a tense police chase through the area, which eventually came to an end near a Chase bank close to Tyler Avenue and Valley Boulevard. Once the car stopped, the man ditched his vehicle and tried to flee.

According to the El Monte Police Department, it was then that officers shot and killed the man.

As of late Monday night, officials still hadn’t released the man’s identity.
