CHICAGO—A shocking incident unfolded Tuesday evening at the Garfield Red Line station in Englewood when a 44-year-old man was brutally attacked and robbed. Authorities have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with the crime.

The attack took place around 7:15 p.m. when the victim was confronted by a man and a woman who assaulted him before stealing his belongings, according to Chicago police. Just 20 minutes later, officers apprehended the suspects nearby.

The individuals charged have been identified as Adrian Lee, 19, of Blue Island, and Shania Hervey, 21, of Auburn Gresham. Both are facing serious felony charges, including armed robbery, aggravated robbery, and aggravated battery.

Authorities confirmed that Lee and Hervey are set to appear in court on Thursday. As the investigation continues, the incident raises concerns about safety on the CTA Red Line, a transit system that has seen an uptick in violent crimes in recent months.

This latest attack underscores the ongoing issue of public safety on Chicago’s transit system, sparking fresh debates on law enforcement presence and security measures. Commuters are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as police work to prevent further violence.
