SWAT teams and a Crisis Intervention Response Team had to step in at an apartment complex in west Harris County, Texas, after a woman reportedly threatened her neighbors with a machete.

The situation unfolded at the Westborough Crossing Apartments, located at 2031 Westborough Drive in the Katy area. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared that the woman appeared to be going through a crisis and was refusing to leave her apartment.

Neighbors were understandably shaken when the woman allegedly began threatening people with a machete, leading to a heavy police presence. The SWAT team and crisis specialists worked to resolve the tense situation, ensuring everyone’s safety.

After what must have felt like a very long standoff, authorities were able to get the woman to cooperate, and she has since been taken into custody.

Sheriff Gonzalez did not release further details about what may have caused the woman’s behavior but did acknowledge the possibility of a mental health crisis.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and law enforcement worked quickly to bring the situation under control. Residents in the area can now breathe a sigh of relief.
