HOUSTON – A tragic night turned into heartbreak for a Houston family after 16-year-old King Randle was shot and killed while preparing for a performance at a teen pop-up club.

King’s mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, is still trying to process the unimaginable loss of her only son. She shared how King had always been passionate about music. “I have pictures of him as a little boy with a guitar and sitting at the piano. Music was something he loved from the start, so he decided he wanted to make it his career,” she said.

The shooting happened late Saturday night around 11:30 p.m. at a venue located at 10126 Jensen Road. Houston Police say the event was hosted by a group called the Curfew Club, which promotes itself on Instagram as “The hottest Teen Club in Houston.”

King was supposed to perform that night, but he never got the chance. His sister was in the crowd and witnessed the chaos unfold. “She called me and said my son had been shot,” King’s mother shared. When she arrived at the scene, she received the devastating news: her son was gone.

Tragically, 14-year-old Azyria Bankhead was also killed in the shooting, and four other teenagers were injured.

According to police, a suspect – described as a tall, thin Black male wearing all black clothing, a black hoodie, and a black mask – was seen firing a pistol into the crowd. Investigators are now speaking with witnesses and victims to gather as much information as possible, but so far, no arrests have been made.

King’s mother spoke about the deep pain of losing her son so suddenly. “Nothing I say or do will bring him back. He was my only son. My baby,” she said tearfully.

The media has been trying to contact the organizers of the Curfew Club for answers, but so far, no one has responded.

For now, King Randle’s family is left with memories of his love for music and the heartbreak of dreams that will never come true. Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as they continue their investigation.
