Two men, Hassan Elliott and Khalif Sears, have pleaded guilty to the 2020 shooting death of Philadelphia Police Sgt. James O’Connor. The incident took place during a SWAT operation in Frankford, where officers were serving a warrant related to a drug trafficking investigation.
According to court documents, the Philadelphia Police Department SWAT Unit broke into an apartment on March 13, 2020, located near Bridge and Duffield streets. Inside the apartment were Elliott, Sears, and two other individuals. As the officers approached, Elliott retrieved a rifle from nearby and began firing through a closed door toward the officers. Tragically, Sgt. O’Connor was fatally struck in the chest during this attack.
