In the hours that followed, she texted a neighbor, asking if they could watch one of her kids. The child’s father dropped the sibling off at the neighbor’s house. The next morning, December 4, the mom visited the neighbor, who noticed the little girl’s injury. The neighbor urged her to take the child to a hospital, but the mom reportedly refused, still afraid of facing the authorities. She eventually left with her kids.
